Dagoretti

Dagoretti South Constituency is situated in the western part of Nairobi County and has a recorded population of 240,081, which accounts for approximately 5.5% of Nairobi’s total population (Kenya Population and Housing Census, 2019). It is classified as peri-urban and faces similar challenges to our other partner projects in urban areas characterised by a high density of slum dwellings.

Embakasi

Embakasi is a growing residential suburb of Nairobi. Many residents work at the nearby Jomo Kenyatta International Airport; however, Embakasi also features two large slums that share many characteristics with Kibra

Kibra

Kibra

Estimates of the size of Africa’s largest slum vary. It is, however, probable that up to 500,000 people call two and a half square miles of the Kibra slum in Nairobi ‘home’.

Limuru

Limuru

Limuru is a town twenty miles north of Nairobi. It is a beautiful tea growing area on the edge of the Rift Valley.

Meru

Meru

Meru in eastern Kenya, is the headquarters of Meru County, and the 7th largest urban centre in the country. Karibuni’s main partner project in Meru, is the MCK Meru Children and Adult Welfare Community Based Organisation.

Njoro

Njoro

Njoro is a small town near Nakuru, about 5 hours' drive northwest from Nairobi, well known for its flamingo frequented lake and other opportunities for game viewing.

Tharaka

Tharaka

Tharaka, about 6 hours drive north east of Nairobi, is hot, dry and dusty. It is one of the least developed areas with 70% unemployment.
