I have been involved in Karibuni since it began, after Corinne’s epic bike ride to raise funds to start the charity.
My church minister was Rev Bill Murphy who knew of my work as a volunteer with the Charity Workaid since it began in 1986. As Chairman of Karibuni he invited me to become a trustee. I had been to Kenya several times for Workaid and had experience of the country and the Kenyan people particularly the poor and disadvantaged. Karibuni was tackling the problems of children living on the streets or in desperate circumstances in the slums.
I have always had a concern for the the poor in our world, I’m a commited Christian and feel we should do all we can to make the world a fairer place for everyone. I am also a member of the World Development Movement, which campaigns for the worlds poor, I have joined many of their campaigns.
I was widowed in 1993, I have a lovely partner Keith, who is very supportive and is also involved with Karibuni. I have 2 married daughters who have great husbands, I have 4 wonderful grandchildren who are a great joy to me.
