How We Started
In July 1993 Corinne Murphy was involved in a car accident with her parents while on holiday
in France.
She sustained a
severe head injury and was in hospital for four months.
The following year, at the Methodist Association of Youth
Clubs annual gathering, she had a vision of African children asking for
help. Her response to this
resulted in the Karibuni Trust being registered as a charity in March
1995.
The Trust aims to
raise awareness and money to support projects for children on the
streets and in the slums in Kenya.
The
projects care for children physically living on the streets and/or who
are supporting themselves on the streets by begging, stealing,
scavenging or prostitution.
