Limuru Nursery and Primary School

Limuru is high in the Rift Valley where the weather can be very cold, it is a very poor area where
people are desperate.
The Trust is supporting a
feeding programme for 250 children, which started in October 2007.
They now have 12 pit latrines (thanks to gifts from Berkhamstead Shared Church and a Masonic Lodge in Aylesbury),
they also have clean water piped from a community source.
With these improvements the health of the children
and staff is so much better.
Limuru Methodist Church was given 7 acres of land in Karanjee about
3kms from Limuru town, 2km from the Methodist Church and 27km from
Nairobi, for community use. They raise some money by growing tea on
2½ aces and let out 1 acre in 10 small plots to local people.

The Nursery School started in 2001, and in 2004 they started the Primary
School.
The children come from families living in the nearby slum of
Misri.
In February 2007 Karibuni Trust paid for and helped to build 2 new
classrooms, and this year paid for and built a permanent kitchen.
Karibuni is in partnership with
Limuru Methodist Church and Lavington United Church.
