Hunajeza Women's Group, Nyalani


The women of this group are struggling to feed local children every day with the support of the Karibuni Trust. They have a plot of land (but no title deeds yet) and have asked for help to build a simple structure for cooking and eating. When they have the title deeds this will be considered as now they are cooking outside and using an old tumbledown mud church as the dining room. The diet this year was very basic, but with the drought little was available to them - even the coconuts had failed again. They will supplement the maize and beans with omena - tiny dried fish which is cheap and widely available.
