Karibuni sponsored Eric throughout his education via the Marimanti Women & Children Programme, Tharaka. Following Secondary School he went on to study building construction at Marimanti Polytechnic.Eric
In March 2014 visiting Karibuni Children Trustees presented him with a mason’s tool kit which had been supplied by Workaid (http://www.workaid.org/)

When Karibuni Children Trustees visited Tharaka a year later they met Eric again. In the 12 months since they had last seen him he had secured a job with a local fundi (builder) and had constructed a new home for his mother and sisters.

In 2016 Eric’s name came up again during the Trustees’ annual visit. A new project office had been constructed with materials and labour provided entirely by parents of sponsored children, local businesses, local schools – and sponsored students. Eric had volunteered to help with the construction and did much of the work. Karibuni’s Chairman, John Cotton, opened the new office during the visit.

The photographs show Eric receiving his took kit, standing by the house he built for his family and the new Project office.
