A personal message from John Cotton, Chairman

bill_joy_murphyIt is with much sadness that I must report the death of Rev. Bill Murphy on Tuesday 13th November. Bill was one of Karibuni’s founding trustees and led the charity as Chairman for 14 years until 2009. He remained heavily involved right up to a few days before he died.

Bill had a huge impact on the charity, the people who supported it and the projects in Kenya which it partners. He was tireless in fundraising and in spreading word of our work. With his wife Joy he visited Kenya every year, sometimes twice, to ensure that our funds were being put to best use. Under his leadership the charity has grown from the smallest of beginnings to one which currently supports over 1200 children in 14 projects. In the process the lives of many children have been transformed.

We will miss his enthusiasm, his single-minded commitment, his wise counsel and his friendship – not to mention his Merseyside sense of humour.

He leaves a charity with a great reputation, which is ambitious to do more. The best tribute we can give is to build on what he achieved.

Donations in Bill’s memory can be made to Karibuni Children, either via ourwebsite or by post to me at:

Stoke Mandeville Methodist Church,
Eskdale Road, Stoke Mandeville, Bucks, HP22 5UJ
